If you are missing a tooth or multiple teeth, receiving dental implants at our office in Arroyo Grande, CA, can restore your smile and oral health. They are designed to look and act just like your natural teeth, making your new smile both fully functional and aesthetically pleasing. Our goal is to help you regain confidence in your smile.
How do they work?
The unique three-part design allows them to mimic the exact function of your regular teeth. The three parts are
- Titanium screws, which act as the tooth root and supports the other two pieces of the restoration
- Metal abutments, which connect the titanium screws to the prosthetic crowns
- Prosthetic crowns, which are custom designed to look and function just like a natural tooth, and complete the dental implants
Why should I choose dental implants?
There are many benefits to restoring your missing or damaged teeth with dental implants. They are self-supportive and stable, so you don’t have to worry about being careful with chewing or replacing them in the future. Other advantages include the following:
- Custom designed to match your other teeth
- Fully functional, meaning dental implants can sustain all your favorite foods
- Last a lifetime if properly cared for
- As easy to care for as natural teeth
They offer more benefits than any other tooth replacement option, and we encourage you to contact our office in Arroyo Grande, CA, to learn more.
Am I a Candidate?
Most patients that are healthy enough to have a tooth extracted or undergo a simple dental procedure are candidates for dental implants. The best way to know for sure is to visit our office for a consultation. At the appointment, your oral surgeon will take X-rays and 3D scans, review your health history, and determine the best treatment plan for your needs.
You can ask any questions you have about the process, learn more about your anesthesia options, get an accurate estimate of your dental implant costs, and more. We encourage you to contact our office in Arroyo Grande, CA, to set up a consultation appointment.
The Treatment Process
After your initial appointment, where you will choose your anesthesia and receive pre- and post-operative instructions for your care, you will return home to prepare for your procedure. At a later date, you will come back to the office for your surgical appointment. Before beginning the procedure, Dr. Goldberg or Dr. Pitrowski will answer any of your last-minute questions and make sure you are comfortable and prepared.
During the surgery, your oral surgeon will typically place on the titanium screw. In some cases, they will also attach the metal abutment; however, this usually happens at a later procedure at the same time the prosthetic crown is placed. Once the screw is in the empty tooth socket, your oral surgeon will stitch up your gums and send you home to rest and recover. Over the next few months, your post will fuse with the jaw bone and create the foundation needed to support the remaining parts of the restoration. When you return to the office, your abutment and crown will be placed, and you can begin enjoying your new teeth and smile.
